Corrientes sits in the subtropical northeast of Argentina, where the Paraná and Uruguay rivers define the landscape and the heat comes with genuine humidity. This is Mesopotamia — the land between the rivers — and the province is better known for its Carnival celebrations and chamamé music than for golf tourism. But the game has taken root here as it has across much of urban Argentina, where private clubs have long served as anchors of social and sporting life in provincial capitals.
Golf Club Corrientes is that kind of institution: a members' club serving a city of roughly half a million, offering a full 18-hole layout in a region where courses are spread thin and the nearest major golfing hub is a long drive south toward Buenos Aires or Rosario.
Playing golf in Corrientes means contending with a climate that rarely relents — warm through most of the year, with summer temperatures that can make even a morning round feel like an achievement. Expect lush vegetation, flat to gently rolling terrain typical of the region's river plains, and the unhurried atmosphere of Argentine club golf at its most local.
