Hammock Dunes Links Course

Tom Fazio designed this private layout for the Hammock Dunes Club along Florida's Flagler County coastline, and the Links Course stands as one of his more ambitious attempts to transplant genuine links character onto American soil. Opened in 1990, it plays through rolling dunes, sea oats, and windswept corridors just inland of the Atlantic, with the ocean's presence felt throughout even when it isn't directly visible. The design rewards strategic thinking over power — wide fairways invite multiple lines of attack, but the surrounding wasteland areas and closely mown chipping slopes demand the kind of bump-and-run imagination that links golf elsewhere requires by necessity.
