Snow Hill sits at the heart of Worcester County on Maryland's lower Eastern Shore, a landscape of flat farmland, cypress swamps, and slow-moving blackwater creeks that drain toward the Chesapeake and the Atlantic. Nassawango Country Club takes its name from Nassawango Creek, one of the Eastern Shore's most ecologically distinctive waterways — a place where bald cypress and tupelo gum rise from dark, tannic water and great blue herons work the shallows. That natural setting gives the course a character rooted in genuine Delmarva Peninsula geography, far removed from the manicured anonymity of resort golf.
As a country club serving a small, tight-knit rural community, Nassawango occupies the social center of local golf life in this corner of Maryland. Courses in this part of the Shore tend to play through flat, open terrain shaped by the agricultural and tidal landscape, where wind off the surrounding marshes becomes the variable that separates good rounds from forgettable ones.
For visiting golfers, the appeal is a genuinely local experience — unhurried, unpretentious, and grounded in a part of the Mid-Atlantic that most players simply never reach.
