Sardinia's southern coast has long attracted visitors chasing something more than beach holidays, and Is Molas — set in the Pula area roughly 40 kilometers south of Cagliari — stands as one of the island's most respected golfing destinations. Opened in the 1970s and developed across a landscape of Mediterranean scrubland, pine forest, and coastal dunes, the course has built a reputation over decades as Sardinia's most serious test of golf, regularly appearing among Italy's top-ranked layouts.
The terrain here does much of the design's heavy lifting. Fragrant macchia vegetation lines the fairways, the Sardinian light shifts dramatically through the day, and the proximity to the sea means wind is rarely absent — a factor that makes club selection a genuine conversation on almost every hole. The course rewards thoughtful positioning over raw power, and the conditioning typically reflects the care of a property that has hosted professional and elite amateur events over the years.
Pula itself is a relaxed, historic town, and the wider Costa del Sud coastline offers one of Italy's least commercialized southern escapes. Playing Is Molas means engaging with Sardinia on its own unhurried terms.
