Few college golf courses in New England carry the history or the setting of Ralph Myhre. Located on the campus of Middlebury College, the course has served the college community — students, faculty, and the broader town — for decades, and it bears the name of a longtime Middlebury athletic figure. It plays through a landscape that reflects the best of Vermont's Green Mountain foothills: rolling terrain, mature hardwoods, and the kind of dramatic seasonal color that makes an autumn round here genuinely memorable.
Middlebury itself sits in the Champlain Valley, flanked by the Green Mountains to the east and the Adirondacks visible across Lake Champlain to the west. The elevation changes and wooded corridors that define Vermont golf are present throughout, and the course rewards players who manage their ball flight and think their way around.
As a college-affiliated layout, Ralph Myhre has an unpretentious, welcoming character. It functions as a teaching and competition venue for Middlebury athletics while remaining open to the public — a genuinely community-rooted course in a town that takes its natural surroundings seriously.
