Few golf courses in Ontario have generated the kind of word-of-mouth buzz that Braestone Club has since opening in 2012. Designed by Ian Andrew, one of Canada's most thoughtful contemporary architects, the course was built on a working farm property in Oro-Medonte Township, just south of Orillia, and that agricultural heritage is woven into every corner of the design — stone walls, weathered fencing, and open meadows frame holes that feel as though they grew from the land rather than were imposed upon it. The routing earned immediate praise and has consistently ranked among the top public-access courses in the country.
The terrain north of Lake Simcoe provides genuine variety: rolling moraines, mature hardwoods, and exposed ridgelines that invite the wind into play. Andrew's design rewards creativity and course management over pure power, with a routing that changes character hole to hole.
Orillia itself sits at the northern edge of Ontario's cottage country, and Braestone fits that unhurried, back-roads spirit perfectly — serious golf without the fuss.
