Chuck Corica Golf Complex has long been a cornerstone of public golf in the East Bay, and the North Course is one of 2 regulation layouts sharing the flat, windswept terrain of Alameda Island. The facility underwent a significant renovation in the mid-2010s, with the North Course redesigned by Callaway Golf and reopening to considerable local enthusiasm as a more modern, playable challenge that still respects the site's unpretentious municipal roots.
Alameda sits across the estuary from Oakland, and the island's maritime setting means coastal breezes are a constant variable — what plays downwind in the morning can turn into a genuine slog by afternoon. The low-lying landscape won't remind you of Augusta, but the bay light, the occasional view toward the Oakland hills, and the wide-open sky give the place a character that's easy to underestimate.
For East Bay golfers, Corica North represents accessible, affordable regulation golf without the wait lists or price tags of the region's private clubs — a workhorse layout that rewards regular play and honest shotmaking.
