Few Swedish clubs carry quite the same sense of metropolitan ambition as Huvudstadens GK, whose Lövsättra course sits in the forested Roslagen landscape northeast of Stockholm. The club was founded to serve the capital's golfing population, and Lövsättra reflects that civic scale — a full-length layout routed through the characteristic Swedish woodland of pine, birch, and granite outcroppings that defines this stretch of Uppland. Brottby itself is a quiet community on the E18 corridor, close enough to the city that weekend tee sheets fill fast, yet far enough that the course feels genuinely removed from urban life.
The terrain here does much of the architectural work, as it does on so many Scandinavian courses. Fairways thread through timber, elevation changes are real rather than cosmetic, and the exposed rock that surfaces throughout the property is very much in play. Firm, fast conditions in summer reward precise ball-striking over raw power.
For Stockholm golfers this is an accessible but serious test — a members' course with genuine character rooted in its landscape rather than any imposed design flourish.
