The Mountain course at La Quinta Resort is one of Pete Dye's most celebrated desert designs — opened in 1981, it was among the layouts that put La Quinta on the golf map and helped establish the resort as one of the premier golf destinations in the American West.

Dye used the natural topography aggressively here, routing holes against canyon walls and boulder outcroppings in ways that feel genuinely theatrical. Several holes play directly toward or alongside the mountain face, making elevation changes and rock features active hazards rather than backdrop. The course has hosted PGA Tour events and remains a regular stop in resort golf conversation, consistently ranked among Southern California's best.
