Few names in American golf carry more quiet confidence than "Old Course" — a designation that implies something earned rather than marketed. This members-only layout in Mashpee sits at the heart of Cape Cod's surprisingly rich private golf culture, a region where the game took root early and where land-use pressures have only made the remaining courses feel more precious. Mashpee itself occupies the mid-Cape, where pitch pine and scrub oak give the landscape a spare, almost austere character that suits golf well.
