Öjestrands Golf Club occupies a stretch of the Bothnian coast in Njurunda, a small municipality just south of Sundsvall in Västernorrland. This is a part of Sweden where the land meets the Gulf of Bothnia in long, low shorelines backed by birch and pine forest — terrain that gives northern Swedish golf its particular character: open skies, clean Baltic light, and a quietness that's hard to find at courses further south.
The club is a member-oriented layout typical of Sweden's strong grassroots golf culture, where well-maintained community courses serve dedicated local players through a short but intense season. Rounds here are shaped by the coastal exposure — wind off the Bothnian Gulf can reframe any hole, turning a routine approach into something that demands real thought.
Njurunda and the Sundsvall region are underappreciated corners of Swedish golf, far from the headline courses of Gothenburg or Stockholm, but rewarding for anyone willing to make the journey north. The setting alone — salt air, northern forest, and long summer evenings — makes a round at Öjestrand feel genuinely remote in the best sense.
