Redwood Meadows sits in the Tsuut'ina Nation lands southwest of Calgary, where the Elbow River valley carves through foothills terrain just before the Rockies begin to assert themselves. It's an unusual address for a golf club — a private residential community developed in the 1970s under a long-term lease agreement with the Tsuut'ina, giving the area a distinct character that sets it apart from Calgary's suburban golf corridor. The foothills landscape here is genuine: rolling, treed, and backed by mountain views that remind you how close you are to serious elevation.
Wintergreen Golf and Country Club serves the Redwood Meadows community as its private members' club, and the setting does most of the heavy lifting. Mature trees, natural topography, and the proximity to the Elbow River give the course a feel that's more intimate and tucked into the land than the open prairie parkland tracks common across Calgary's east and north sides.
Membership here is closely tied to residency in the community, making Wintergreen genuinely exclusive by geography rather than just price — a neighborhood course in the truest sense, shared among people who actually live on the land surrounding it.
