Saare Golf sits on Saaremaa, Estonia's largest island, a place shaped by windswept Baltic coastline, ancient limestone formations, and a landscape that feels genuinely apart from the mainland. Reaching it requires a ferry crossing from Virtsu to Kuivastu — a journey that immediately signals you're somewhere distinct. The island is known for its medieval bishop's castle in Kuressaare, its meteor craters, juniper meadows, and a slow, unhurried pace of life that carries over onto the course itself.
Saaremaa's climate means golf here is a seasonal affair, with long northern summer days offering extended playing windows that partially compensate for the shorter season. The terrain across much of the island is flat to gently rolling, with the natural vegetation — juniper, pine, coastal scrub — doing the work of framing holes and creating definition.
As one of relatively few full 18-hole layouts in Estonia, Saare Golf draws players from across the Baltic region who make the island trip a genuine golf destination. The crossing alone frames the round as something worth making an effort for.
