Few stretches of Scottish coastline are as raw and elemental as the Moray Firth shore, and Cullen Golf Club sits right in the middle of it — perched above the fishing village of Cullen on the northeast Scottish coast, with views out across the firth that have been distracting golfers here since the club's founding in 1879. One of the older clubs in the region, Cullen occupies a compact clifftop and inland layout that makes the most of naturally dramatic terrain without needing length to create a genuine test.
A par 63 signals immediately that this is a course built on precision and local knowledge rather than power. Short holes demand accurate iron play, and the wind off the North Sea — which can arrive from almost any direction and change by the hour — turns what might look manageable on paper into something considerably more demanding. The Moray coast is famous for this: conditions that humble visitors and reward those who grew up reading them.
Cullen itself is a characterful small town, known for Cullen skink, the smoked haddock soup that originated here. Playing this course is very much part of a local tradition, patronized by a tight-knit membership for whom the golf and the place are inseparable.
