Abbekås Golfklubb sits on the southern tip of Sweden's Skåne peninsula, where the flat, open farmland of one of Scandinavia's most fertile regions meets the Baltic coast. The course runs along the shoreline near the small village of Abbekås, and the sea is never far from view — on windier days, which is to say most days, the Öresund and Baltic air turns a straightforward layout into something far more demanding. The prevailing coastal winds are as much a part of the design challenge here as any bunker or hazard.
Skåne is Sweden's southernmost county and its most golf-dense region, with a long season by Scandinavian standards and a flat, almost links-like landscape that suits the game naturally. Abbekås fits comfortably into that tradition — an honest, unpretentious members' club that draws its character from its surroundings rather than architectural ambition.
For visiting golfers, the appeal is the setting itself: clean sea air, sweeping agricultural views, and the particular pleasure of playing golf at the edge of a continent where the wind has the final say.
