Puerto Colombia sits just northwest of Barranquilla on Colombia's Caribbean coast, where the heat is serious, the trade winds are constant, and the landscape shifts between flat coastal plain and the low hills edging toward the Sierra Nevada. It's not a region with a deep golf infrastructure — Barranquilla's golfing options are relatively few — which makes Club Lagos del Caujaral one of the more distinctive addresses in the country's northern Caribbean corridor.
The club draws its name from the lagoons ("lagos") that define its terrain, with water coming into play across much of the layout and adding strategic weight to what the flat coastal topography might otherwise lack. That combination of equatorial heat, persistent sea breeze, and water-lined fairways gives the course a character that rewards course management over raw power — carry distances and wind reading matter out here.
As a private members' club serving Barranquilla's community, Lagos del Caujaral functions as a genuine social institution, not simply a golf facility. Membership brings access to a full country club environment in a region where such clubs carry real cultural significance.
