Riverside Country Club sits on the outskirts of Rothesay, one of the most affluent and historically rooted communities in Atlantic Canada. The club has been a fixture of the Saint John River valley for well over a century, making it one of the oldest and most established private clubs in the Maritimes. Its setting along the river gives the course a distinctive personality — the terrain rolls and tilts in ways that demand creativity off the tee, and the mature hardwood canopy that lines most fairways turns the property into something genuinely spectacular come autumn.
The design reflects an older, less interventionist philosophy of golf architecture, where the land largely dictated the routing rather than the other way around. Members play a course that rewards local knowledge: slopes break in unexpected directions, certain approaches require precise club selection, and the river's presence influences wind more than first-time visitors tend to anticipate.
Rothesay itself is a short drive from Saint John, and the regional golf culture here is serious and proud. Riverside occupies a place near the top of that hierarchy — a members' club where the traditions run deep and the expectations match.
