Chedoke Golf Club - The Beddoe Course

Hamilton's Chedoke Golf Club has operated as a public facility on the Niagara Escarpment since the early 20th century, making it one of the older municipal golf operations in Ontario. The Beddoe Course — named after Walter Beddoe, a longtime figure in Hamilton's golf community — is the shorter of Chedoke's 2 layouts, sitting alongside the more demanding Helmuth Course on the same scenic property. Together they form a rare municipal complex where both 18-hole courses share the same elevated terrain above the city.

The escarpment setting defines the experience here. Hamilton sits at the western end of Lake Ontario, where the dramatic limestone ridge that runs across southern Ontario creates genuinely varied topography — elevation changes, exposed rock, mature hardwoods — that gives Beddoe more visual interest than its length might suggest. Autumn play, when the maples turn across the escarpment face, is particularly striking.
