The Los Chillos Valley, stretching southeast of Quito in the shadow of Volcán Antisana, is one of the more quietly dramatic settings for golf in all of South America. At roughly 2,500 meters above sea level, the air here is thinner than most golfers are accustomed to, and the ball carries noticeably farther than it would at sea level — a quirk that rewards experienced players and humbles newcomers who misjudge the conditions. The surrounding landscape is classically Andean: broad agricultural land, eucalyptus groves, and the kind of cool, luminous light that the Ecuadorian highlands do differently than anywhere else.
Club Campestre suggests a traditional country-club format — a membership community built around sport and social life rather than resort tourism. A 9-hole layout at this altitude and in this setting is a serious proposition, not a pitch-and-putt, and par 35 hints at a routing with some genuine teeth.
For visiting golfers, the chance to play golf this close to Quito, with the Andes as a backdrop and altitude as an extra variable, makes Los Chillos a distinctive stop on any Ecuador itinerary.
