Rasa de Berbes

Few regions in Spain offer a backdrop quite like Asturias — the rugged Cantabrian coast, where green mountains tumble toward the sea and the Atlantic keeps the landscape perpetually lush. Rasa de Berbes sits on the clifftop plateau just outside Ribadesella, one of Asturias' most picturesque fishing towns, with the Sella river estuary to one side and open ocean views stretching across much of the layout. The course takes its name from the *rasa*, the flat coastal terrace carved by ancient wave erosion — a geological feature that gives this stretch of the Asturian coast its characteristic clifftop meadows.

Playing here means contending with Atlantic wind as much as the layout itself. The turf plays firm and fast by northern Spain's standards, and the cliff-edge holes demand both commitment and respect — errant shots in the wrong direction here carry real consequences.

Ribadesella is a town worth the trip on its own terms: a historic cider culture, excellent seafood, and the finish line of the famous descent of the Sella river canoe race. The golf is very much part of the broader experience of a genuinely remarkable corner of Spain.
