Drayton Park Golf Club sits on the grounds of the Drayton Manor estate in Staffordshire, sharing its address — and its boundaries — with the famous Drayton Manor theme park. That unusual coexistence gives the course a character all its own: a mature, tree-lined layout where fairways wind through established parkland that once formed part of a grand Victorian estate, with the occasional distant rumble of the park's rides providing a reminder of its singular surroundings. The course has been a fixture of the Midlands golfing scene for decades, offering members and visitors a traditional English parkland test.
The design rewards accuracy over power. Tight driving corridors, well-positioned bunkering, and the natural roll of the Staffordshire countryside mean that scoring well here requires patience and course management rather than brute length.
Tamworth itself is a historic market town at the edge of the National Forest corridor, with easy access from Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. For golfers in the region, Drayton Park offers a genuinely distinctive setting — a proper parkland round with a backdrop unlike almost anywhere else in British golf.
