Norsjö Golfklubb sits in one of Sweden's more remote golfing outposts — a small industrial town in the interior of Västerbotten, a county more often associated with dense boreal forest and reindeer herding than fairways. Norsjö is best known to the outside world as the origin point of the Norsjö ropeway, a legendary wartime construction that once ferried supplies across hundreds of kilometers of wilderness. The golf club carries something of that same self-reliant, frontier spirit: this is golf played far from the coastal resort circuits, sustained by a tight-knit local membership.
Västerbotten's inland climate means a compressed season — snow can linger into May and return in September — so rounds here carry the particular pleasure of northern summer light, with evenings that barely darken during midsummer. The surrounding landscape is all spruce, pine, and birch, and the course reflects that setting rather than fighting it.
For visiting golfers, Norsjö offers an authentically local Swedish club experience: unhurried, unpretentious, and rooted in a community where golf is genuinely valued rather than merely available.
