Ballerud golfbane

Few clubs in Norway carry the institutional weight that Ballerud does. Founded in 1932, it is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country, and its course in the leafy Høvik suburb west of Oslo has long been considered a benchmark for Scandinavian parkland golf. The layout occupies mature, wooded terrain that rolls gently down toward the Oslofjord corridor, giving it a quiet, almost enclosed character — the kind of course where the trees do as much design work as the architect.

Høvik sits within the affluent Bærum municipality, a stretch of western Oslo commuter belt where old money and outdoor culture coexist comfortably. The surrounding landscape is classic southern Norwegian lowland: mixed deciduous and pine woodland, rocky outcroppings just beneath the soil, and a climate that compresses the season into a determined June-through-September window. Conditions tend to be soft and lush, which rewards precision over power.
