Fort Sill is one of the oldest active U.S. Army installations in the country, established in 1869 on the southern plains of Oklahoma near the Wichita Mountains. That history runs deep here — Cedar Lakes Golf Course sits within the boundaries of a post that has trained American artillery soldiers for over 150 years, giving it a sense of purpose and community that civilian courses rarely replicate. Golf on a military installation exists for the benefit of service members, their families, and authorized guests, and that mission shapes the entire atmosphere.
Southwestern Oklahoma brings its own character to a round. The landscape is wide and windswept, with the Wichita Mountains rising to the northwest offering a distinctive horizon that most Great Plains courses can't claim. Wind is a constant presence in this part of the state and should be treated as a legitimate part of the challenge on any given day.
As a military installation course, Cedar Lakes serves a tight-knit community of active duty personnel, veterans, and Department of Defense civilians — the kind of place where regular players know each other, and a weekday round carries the easy rhythm of a true members' game.
