Horam Park sits in the pastoral heart of East Sussex, on the edge of the High Weald — one of England's most ancient and well-preserved landscapes, where rolling farmland, ancient oak woodland, and deeply cut ghylls define the terrain. This is quintessential southern English countryside, and the course reflects it: a layout that works with the natural contours of the land rather than against them, where elevation changes and mature hedgerows bring variety to almost every hole.
At par 70, this is a course that rewards accuracy and course management over raw power. The Weald's characteristically soft winter ground and sheltered valleys mean conditions can shift dramatically with the seasons, and local knowledge — of wind breaks, subtle slopes, and where the drainage runs — counts for a great deal.
Horam itself is a quiet village between Heathfield and Uckfield, well off the tourist trail, and the club carries the relaxed, unpretentious character of a genuine community course. Expect a welcoming atmosphere, no fuss, and the kind of round where the scenery earns as much attention as the scorecard.
