Few courses on the Grand Strand carry as much weight as this one. TPC of Myrtle Beach, designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1999, was built to PGA Tour standards as part of the nationwide TPC network — courses engineered to be both spectator-friendly and genuinely demanding for skilled players. Fazio threaded the layout through the coastal lowcountry of Murrells Inlet, working with the natural stands of Carolina pines, wetlands, and the region's signature sandy terrain to produce something with real edge alongside its polish.
Murrells Inlet itself sits just south of the main Myrtle Beach corridor, quieter in tone but still central to one of the densest and most visited golf markets in the world. The Grand Strand hosts tens of millions of rounds annually, and the TPC sits near the top of the pecking order — a step above the typical resort track in conditioning standards and course architecture, and a bucket-list entry for many visitors making the pilgrimage to play the area.
The Fazio design rewards strategic thinking over raw power, with water and wetland corridors framing key approach shots and demanding honest club selection. Conditions are kept to TPC network standards, which means the course consistently plays firm, fast, and fair — an experience that holds up whether you're a low handicapper chasing something close to a Tour test or simply a serious golfer wanting the best Myrtle Beach has to offer.
