Yellowstone Club

Few places in American golf are more deliberately exclusive than the Yellowstone Club. Founded in 2000 by entrepreneur Tim Blixseth as the world's first private ski and golf resort, it sits inside a gated mountain community in the Madison Range just outside Big Sky, with membership historically capped and entry reserved for the ultra-wealthy — a roster that has included Bill Gates and Dan Quayle. The golf course, designed by Tom Weiskopf, plays through a setting that would stop anyone mid-swing: the Spanish Peaks rising above, lodgepole pine framing every fairway, and the kind of high-altitude clarity that makes Montana feel like it exists at a different scale than everywhere else.
