Few Irish market towns carry the same geological identity as Castlecomer, a place built on coal. Sitting in the Castlecomer Plateau in north County Kilkenny, the town sits atop the country's anthracite coalfield, and the surrounding landscape — wooded demesne land, rolling drumlin country, and the plateau's surprisingly elevated terrain — gives the golf club here a character you wouldn't necessarily anticipate this far inland.
