Bourne sits at the western gateway to Cape Cod, where the Cape Cod Canal cuts the peninsula from the mainland and the Atlantic's salt air is never far off. It's a town shaped by water — tidal rivers, kettle ponds, and the brackish marshes that define this stretch of southeastern Massachusetts — and golf courses here tend to reflect that low-lying, coastal character, with natural contours doing much of the work a designer might otherwise force.
The Brookside Club suggests, by name at least, a layout that works with the land rather than against it — the kind of course where a stream or wetland corridor shapes strategy on multiple holes and demands decision-making over brute force.
