Bali National Golf Club

Few golf destinations anywhere in the world match the sheer visual drama of Bali National Golf Club, which occupies a spectacular clifftop site on the Bukit Peninsula in the south of the island. Designed by Thomson, Wolveridge & Perrett and opened in 1996, the course was substantially reimagined under Peter Thomson's oversight to make full use of terrain that drops sharply toward the Indian Ocean. Several holes play along or near the cliff edge, offering views that are genuinely distracting in the best possible way — the kind that make you forget your pre-shot routine entirely.

The surrounding landscape is classic Bukit: dry, limestone-scrub terrain that feels markedly different from the lush rice-terrace imagery most visitors associate with Bali. The peninsula hosts a cluster of the island's most upscale resorts and beaches, and the golf club sits comfortably within that world, drawing a mix of resort guests, expatriates based in Seminyak and Nusa Dua, and visiting golfers making Bali a dedicated golf trip.
