Lake Kezar Country Club occupies a corner of western Maine that most people only discover by accident or invitation. Lovell sits in the Sebago Lakes region near the New Hampshire border, a quiet stretch of Oxford County where the White Mountains loom to the west and glacially carved lakes define the landscape. Kezar Lake itself is one of the most admired bodies of water in New England — clear, cold, and largely undeveloped — and a club bearing its name carries that same unhurried quality.
As a private members' club in a town of fewer than 1,000 year-round residents, Lake Kezar operates on a seasonal rhythm dictated by Maine's short summers. The membership tends to be a mix of local families and summer-cottage regulars who return year after year, giving the place a tight-knit, familiar character that resort courses rarely achieve.
The terrain across western Maine — rolling elevation changes, mature hardwoods, and rocky outcroppings — tends to produce courses with natural variety and visual interest. At par 72, this is a full-length test, but the real draw here is almost certainly the setting itself.
