Osoyoos sits at the southern tip of the Okanagan Valley, where Canada does something unexpected: it produces genuine desert. The landscape here — antelope brush, sandy benchlands, ponderosa pine, and a lake that runs warmer than almost any other in the country — looks nothing like the rest of British Columbia, and Desert Gold leans into that identity. This is golf played in Canada's only pocket of true arid shrubland, a setting that feels borrowed from somewhere much farther south.
The Okanagan is primarily known for its wine country and its summers, and Osoyoos draws visitors chasing both. A round here comes packaged with that same unhurried, sun-soaked energy — long evenings, dry heat, and views that extend across the valley in ways that make it easy to lose track of your score. The course plays to a par of 71, a detail that tends to reshape how players approach their round from the first tee.
For golfers traveling the Okanagan circuit, Osoyoos is often the southernmost stop, and Desert Gold gives the region a distinctive anchor. The desert setting provides natural hazards and visual character that more manicured environments simply can't replicate — brown and gold tones baking under reliable summer sun, with the valley dropping away in the distance.
