Few Czech courses carry the regional weight of Golf Club Olomouc, which has served as the anchor of golf in Moravia's historic capital since the club's founding decades ago. The course occupies rolling countryside outside the village of Dolany, just a short drive from Olomouc's baroque old town — a UNESCO-listed city whose fountain-filled squares and cathedral spires represent one of Central Europe's most underappreciated urban treasures. That cultural richness extends to the golf, which feels genuinely rooted in its landscape rather than imposed upon it.
The layout works through a mix of open parkland and more sheltered, tree-lined corridors, with the gentle Moravian hills providing natural elevation changes that keep the routing interesting without ever becoming brutal. Wind off the surrounding agricultural plain can be a meaningful factor, and the course rewards accurate ball-striking over raw power.
As the home club for much of organized competitive golf in the Olomouc region, the club has a proper members' culture — serious about the game, welcoming to visiting players, and proud of its place in Czech golf's broader story.
