Club de Golf Altorreal

Altorreal opened in the early 1990s on the outskirts of Molina de Segura, one of the larger industrial and residential towns in the Murcia region of southeastern Spain. The course was designed by José Canales, and it has established itself over the decades as one of the more respected members' clubs in the Murcia golf scene — a region that punches above its weight in golf density given its reliably dry, sunny climate and relatively affordable land. The layout weaves through a residential urbanización, but the mature Mediterranean planting — Aleppo pines, palms, and drought-tolerant scrub — gives it a sense of enclosure that the housing backdrop might otherwise undermine.

The terrain is gently rolling rather than dramatically hilly, which makes for an accessible and enjoyable round without sacrificing strategic interest. Canales routed the holes to take advantage of the natural contours, and several greens are well-defended by bunkering that rewards precision over power.

Murcia's climate means Altorreal plays virtually year-round, with summers running genuinely hot and winters mild enough that the course rarely loses its condition. For visiting golfers, it offers a more authentic local club experience than the heavily packaged resort courses found closer to the Murcian coast.
