Casa Grande sits in the broad flatlands of Pinal County, roughly halfway between Phoenix and Tucson, where the Sonoran Desert stretches out in every direction and the sky feels enormous. Mission Royale is a public golf course built within the Mission Royale master-planned community, and the desert setting shapes everything about the experience — expect saguaro cactus, creosote, and the kind of dry, sun-baked air that keeps fairways firm and fast for much of the year.
The course plays as a full par 72 layout, and like most desert-style designs in this part of Arizona, the contrast between maintained turf and raw desert rough is dramatic. Errant shots don't just find rough — they find cactus, rock, and scrub, which keeps even casual rounds honest and rewards players who can shape the ball off the tee.
Casa Grande itself is a practical, unpretentious town, and Mission Royale fits that character: approachable public golf in a genuine desert environment, without the resort pricing or the show of Scottsdale. For travelers passing through the I-10 corridor, it's a natural stop.
