Few public golf courses in northeastern Ohio carry the civic history that Good Park does. The layout has served Akron residents since the 1920s, a municipally owned track that has functioned as the city's golfing commons through decades of boom and change in one of America's most storied industrial cities. It sits within the larger Good Park recreational complex — the "Good" in the name honoring Albert H. Good, a former Akron park commissioner — giving the whole place a grounded, community-institution feel that resort courses simply cannot manufacture.

The city sits in the shadow of Firestone Country Club, home to one of the PGA Tour's great championship venues, but Good Park represents the other side of the ledger: accessible, unpretentious, and built for working golfers.
