Few golf courses in Washington State earn their setting quite like Alderbrook. Situated along the southern shore of Hood Canal — the long, glacially carved fjord that stretches between the Olympic Peninsula and the Kitsap — the course occupies one of the more quietly spectacular pieces of ground in the Pacific Northwest. The Olympic Mountains rise to the west, and on clear days the water views are simply distracting in the best possible way.
The layout itself is a classic Pacific Northwest parkland design, routing through tall conifers and rolling terrain that reflects the region's characteristic topography. It plays as a genuine test without being punishing — tree-lined fairways demand accuracy off the tee, while the greens reward patience and local knowledge. The course has long been associated with the adjacent Alderbrook Resort & Spa, one of Hood Canal's signature destinations, which means visitors tend to arrive as much for the broader experience as for the round itself.
Union, Washington sits within Mason County, about 20 miles from Shelton, in a corner of the state that feels removed from the bustle of Puget Sound's urban corridor. Rain is a fact of life here, which keeps the turf lush year-round and gives the course a verdant, deep-green character that photographers and first-time visitors tend to remember long after the scorecard is forgotten.
