Few clubs in Swedish golf carry quite the historical weight of Rya. Founded in 1931 and located just north of Helsingborg along the Öresund coast, the club has been shaping the game in Skåne for nearly a century, and the Old Course is its foundational layout — the ground on which that reputation was built.
The course plays across a landscape that defines southern Swedish golf: sandy subsoil, naturalistic rough, and enough seaside influence to make the wind a genuine factor in club selection. Beech and oak stands frame several holes, giving the routing a sense of enclosure that contrasts with the open, exposed stretches closer to the water. It's a mix that rewards local knowledge and keeps returning visitors honest.
Rya sits within one of the most golf-dense regions in Scandinavia — Skåne punches well above its weight nationally for the number and quality of its courses. The Old Course earns its place in that company not through spectacle but through an integrity of design that still holds up, presenting a genuine examination of the game across all skill levels.
