Kabwe Golf Club sits in the Central Province of Zambia, in a town that carries one of the more dramatic histories on the Copperbelt's southern edge. Once known as Broken Hill — the name that put it on colonial-era maps — Kabwe was long a hub of lead and zinc mining, and its golf club belongs to that tradition of mining-town clubs that served as social anchors for communities built around extraction industries. These clubs, common across central and southern Africa, developed their own relaxed, unpretentious character quite distinct from resort or capital-city venues.
The Central Province landscape is classic Zambian plateau country: open miombo woodland, red-earthed fairways, and a climate that shifts dramatically between the dry season's clear skies and the lush green that the rainy months bring.
