Few places in golf carry the weight of Augusta, Georgia — home to Augusta National and the Masters, a city where the sport is practically civic religion. Against that backdrop, First Tee of Augusta exists for an entirely different purpose: not to chase prestige, but to open the game to young people who might otherwise never get a crack at it. The First Tee network is one of the most important youth development organizations in American golf, and having a chapter in Augusta gives it a particular resonance.
A par-60 layout is built for learning and accessibility rather than length, emphasizing shorter holes that reward shot-making fundamentals and keep rounds moving for players still finding their footing in the game. That design philosophy aligns directly with First Tee's mission — get young golfers on a real course, building confidence hole by hole.
Playing in Augusta means humidity, Bermuda grass, and the same Georgia Piedmont terrain that frames the city's legendary private clubs. Here, though, the point is participation over par.
