Cape May National Golf Club sits at the southern tip of New Jersey, where the Atlantic coast and Delaware Bay converge on a peninsula that feels genuinely removed from the rest of the state. Cape May itself is one of the oldest seaside resorts in the country, a Victorian town whose architecture and pace stand apart from the Shore's more commercial stretches farther north. The golf here exists within that same unhurried character.
The course was designed by Karl Litten and Robert Mullock and opened in 1991, routing through the region's distinctive coastal lowlands — wetlands, native grasses, and stands of Atlantic white cedar that make the landscape feel authentically local rather than manufactured. Water comes into play on a significant number of holes, and the persistent coastal wind off the surrounding bays turns what might otherwise be a manageable par 71 into a genuine test of shot-shaping and course management.
For visitors, Cape May National offers something increasingly rare: a semi-private club that rewards the golfer who pays attention to wind, position, and the quiet demands of a coastal layout rather than simply power.
