Founded in 1905, Knowle Golf Club is one of Bristol's oldest and most established members' clubs, with over a century of history woven into its fairways. The course sits in the Knowle district on Bristol's south side, occupying relatively compact, parkland terrain that rewards accuracy and course management over raw power — a par 70 layout that plays shorter than many but rarely feels easy.
Bristol itself is a city with a genuine golf heritage, and Knowle has long served as one of its community anchors. The club has nurtured generations of local golfers, and the kind of tight-knit, traditional atmosphere that comes from 120-plus years of continuous membership tends to give a place like this real character — the sort you notice in the clubhouse as much as on the course.
The surrounding area is leafy and residential, and the course reflects that setting: tree-lined holes where placement off the tee matters, and greens that members know intimately but visitors will need a round or two to fully read.
