Few resort complexes in Portugal have grown as ambitiously as Ribagolfe, which sits roughly 40 kilometres east of Lisbon in the flat, sun-baked Ribatejo plain. The property originally opened its 1st course and subsequently added a 2nd, giving players the option of combining both layouts into a single extended round — a format that has made Ribagolfe a favourite for Portuguese golf weeks and corporate events. The terrain here is gentle and agricultural rather than dramatic, shaped by the broad Tagus valley, and the design leans on mature pines, eucalyptus, and water features to create definition across what is otherwise open land.
The Ribatejo is horse country and wine country, and Samora Correia carries that unhurried, rural character. Ribagolfe fits that mood — a resort-style facility with a relaxed atmosphere rather than the manicured prestige of the Algarve's flagship venues, appealing to golfers who want accessible, playable conditions without the southern crowds.
Lisbon's international airport is a straightforward drive, which makes this a realistic stopover or add-on day for travellers combining city time with golf. Both courses reward straight driving over the relatively forgiving ground, and the combined 36-hole setup gives visiting groups enough variety to fill a comfortable day without repeating themselves.
