One of Dallas's most storied private clubs, Lakewood Country Club has been a fixture of East Dallas social and sporting life since its founding in the 1920s. The club's course carries the fingerprints of classic Golden Age design — tight, tree-lined fairways that reward placement over power and greens that have been refined over decades of member play. The par-71 layout is a reminder that character doesn't require length; the routing asks for shot-making intelligence at nearly every turn.
East Dallas itself gives Lakewood its particular personality. The surrounding neighborhoods — among the most architecturally distinctive in the city — lend the club a sense of deep civic rootedness unusual even among long-established private clubs. The mature tree canopy that defines the area envelops the course, creating an atmosphere that feels genuinely removed from the surrounding urban fabric.
For members, Lakewood functions as a true club in the traditional sense: a place where the golf is serious but the community it sustains matters just as much as the game.
