Coral Springs sits in the northwestern reaches of Broward County, where the flat South Florida terrain opens up to wide fairways, water everywhere, and the kind of warm, breezy conditions that make January rounds feel like a gift. Eagle Trace Golf Club is one of the area's better-known layouts, and for good reason — it earned a place on the golf map by hosting the Honda Classic in the mid-1980s, giving the course a legitimate tournament pedigree at a time when the PGA Tour was still finding its foothold in South Florida.
The design leans into the classic Florida formula: palm-lined corridors, aggressive water hazards threading through multiple holes, and greens that reward precise iron play over brute strength. The flat topography means wind becomes the variable that separates scores, and an offshore breeze can turn a manageable round into something considerably more complicated.
Today Eagle Trace plays as a semi-private club, balancing member life with public access. It remains a touchstone for Broward County golfers and a credible test of the target-golf discipline that defines this corner of the state.
