Few private clubs in Canada carry the institutional weight of Scarboro Golf and Country Club. Founded in 1912, it stands among Toronto's most established members' clubs, with a history woven through more than a century of Ontario golf. The course was designed by Harry Colt — the great English architect responsible for Sunningdale, Royal Portrush, and Wentworth — making Scarboro one of the most significant design commissions in Canadian golf history. Colt's routing across the rolling Scarborough Bluffs terrain produces a course that rewards strategic thinking over brute force, with contoured fairways, well-placed hazards, and greens that have challenged generations of serious golfers.
The club sits in Toronto's east end, where the city gives way to mature tree cover and the topographic variety that defines the old Scarborough plateau. That landscape gives the course a surprisingly secluded character for a layout within a major metropolitan area.
As a traditional private members' club, Scarboro operates with a low profile and a long waitlist. Its members know they're playing on one of the country's genuinely distinguished pieces of golf architecture.
