Bourgenay Golf Club

Port Bourgenay was developed in the 1980s as one of the Vendée coast's signature leisure complexes, combining a marina, holiday village, and this golf course into a single resort destination. The course was designed by Michel Gayon, one of France's most prolific golf architects, whose work tends toward the strategic and playable rather than the penal — well suited to a resort context where visitors of varying handicaps arrive wanting a genuine challenge without punishment at every turn.

The setting is the real draw. Talmont-Saint-Hilaire sits just south of Les Sables-d'Olonne on the Atlantic coast, where the bocage landscape of inland Vendée gives way to coastal marshes, pine stands, and the wide oceanic light that defines this stretch of the Pays de la Loire. The course plays through this transition zone, with the breeze off the Atlantic a factor on exposed sections that no scorecard number fully communicates.
