Few addresses in American golf carry the weight of Pinehurst, North Carolina. The Sandhills region has been the spiritual home of the game in this country for well over a century, its sandy, well-drained soils and longleaf pine forests producing conditions that feel transplanted from the Scottish linksland — firm, fast, and endlessly strategic. Mid South Club sits within this storied community, sharing a landscape that has shaped some of the most celebrated courses on the continent.
Designed by Arnold Palmer, Mid South opened in 1993 as part of the broader residential development that expanded Pinehurst's golf footprint beyond the historic Resort. Palmer's design leans into the natural terrain, routing holes through stands of pine and across the rolling sandhills topography that defines the area. The par-71 layout rewards patience and ball placement over raw power — a sensibility very much in keeping with the Pinehurst tradition.
As a private club, Mid South serves a membership drawn largely from the broader Pinehurst residential community, offering a quieter counterpoint to the resort's famous numbered courses nearby.
