Hatogrande Country Club occupies a spectacular setting in the Sabana de Bogotá, the high plateau that stretches north of the Colombian capital through the municipality of Sopó. At roughly 2,600 meters above sea level, the altitude dramatically reduces air density, meaning the ball flies considerably farther than golfers accustomed to sea-level courses would expect — a disorienting but exhilarating adjustment that makes club selection genuinely interesting. The surrounding landscape is classic Cundinamarca: green rolling hills, eucalyptus groves, and the cool, often misty highland air that defines golf on the sabana.
The club itself is one of the more prestigious private establishments in the Colombian golf world, drawing a membership from Bogotá's business and social elite who make the roughly 45-minute drive north from the city. The grounds extend well beyond the course, with facilities befitting a full country club experience — equestrian traditions in particular have long been central to the hacienda culture of this part of Cundinamarca.
For visiting golfers, access is realistically limited to those with member connections, but for anyone fortunate enough to play here, the combination of mountain plateau scenery, cool highland temperatures, and a well-maintained private layout represents Colombian golf at a genuinely elevated level — literally and figuratively.
