The course occupies the top and flanks of a hill that also serves as a local nature reserve, meaning the views — across to the Welsh hills on a clear day, down into the Vale of Berkeley below — are as much a part of the round as any shot you'll play. The club dates to 1889, making it one of the older foundations in the county, and the layout has an unhurried, traditional feel that suits its hilltop character. With a par of 68, the course leans heavily on par 3s and shorter par 4s, which places a premium on precision and course management over raw distance.
